Learning how to pack a TV without the box keeps a fragile screen safe in transit. Layered padding and an upright position do what the original carton would have.
Step: Unplug and photograph the cable layout first
Step: Wrap the screen in a soft blanket or moving pad
Step: Add a layer of bubble wrap, screen-side protected
Step: Cut cardboard to shield the front and back panels
Step: Tape the padding snugly without pressing on the screen
Step: Stand the TV upright; never lay a flat-screen flat
Step: Wedge it between soft items so it cannot tip
Step: Mark the TV as fragile and load it upright last
Protecting a flat-screen TV with no box.
When: Pack the TV the day before or the morning of the move.
Watch out: Never lay a flat-screen TV flat; the unsupported panel can crack under pressure or vibration during the move.
