Learning how to pack artwork and mirrors protects fragile glass and frames. Corner protection, a tape X across the glass, and upright transport prevent cracks and chips.
Step: Use picture or mirror boxes sized to the piece
Step: Apply painters tape in an X across the glass face
Step: Wrap each piece in paper, then bubble wrap
Step: Add cardboard corner protectors to the frame
Step: Slide the piece into the box and pad any gaps
Step: Tape the box shut and label FRAGILE and which side is up
Step: Transport artwork and mirrors standing upright
Step: Keep them flat against a truck wall, never lying down
Protecting framed art and glass.
When: Pack art and mirrors in the final week before move day.
Watch out: Do not lay framed glass flat; transport it upright so pressure does not crack the glass mid-move.
