Learning how to pack dishes the right way keeps your dinnerware intact. Plates packed on edge with cushioning survive the bumps that flat-stacked plates do not.
Step: Use a small or dish-pack box with thick walls
Step: Pad the bottom with crumpled packing paper
Step: Wrap each plate individually in packing paper
Step: Stack plates on their edge, not flat, like records
Step: Add paper between every plate and around the sides
Step: Fill all empty space so nothing shifts in transit
Step: Label the box FRAGILE and THIS SIDE UP on all sides
Step: Keep dish boxes near the top of the truck load
Protecting plates and dinnerware in transit.
When: Pack dishes in the final week before move day.
Watch out: Do not stack plates flat; flat stacks crack under pressure, while plates on edge absorb shock far better.
