How to Move a Blacksmith Forge

A blacksmith forge is heavy, holds fuel, and runs blistering hot. Confirm it is stone cold, handle the gas or coal safely, and protect the burners or refractory lining before it moves.

Pro tip: Transport propane cylinders standing upright and secured, in a ventilated space, following the same rules as a grill tank.

Watch out: Never move a forge that could still be hot, and never transport a connected propane cylinder; disconnect, cap, and carry it upright and separately.
