How to Move an Espresso Machine

An espresso machine has internal water lines and a boiler that a coffee maker does not, so the prep is more involved. Purge the lines and protect the group head and steam wand, and even a semi-professional machine travels safely.

Pro tip: If your machine has a manual boiler drain valve, use it as a final step to remove any water the purge cycles missed.

Watch out: Never move an espresso machine with water still in the boiler or lines; a leak inside the machine can cause internal corrosion that is expensive to repair.
