How to Move a Hammock

A hammock is one of the lightest things you will pack for a move, but a damp one zipped into a tight stuff sack for days is how mildew and a sour smell start. Give it time to dry and coil the hardware separately and it travels problem free.

Pro tip: Snap a photo of how the straps wrap the tree before you take them down so rehanging at the new place takes five minutes instead of twenty.

Watch out: Never seal a wet or dew-damp hammock in a stuff sack for more than a day, since trapped moisture causes mildew stains that do not wash out.
