How to Move a Pressure Canner

A pressure canner is essentially a large pressure cooker with a more sensitive dial gauge and a heavier body. Protect that gauge, bag the small parts, and the rest travels like any large stovetop pot.

Pro tip: If the gauge is removable on your model, take it off and pack it in its own small padded box for maximum protection.

Watch out: Never let anything press directly against the pressure dial gauge; it is a calibrated instrument, and a bent needle or cracked glass face means it must be replaced before the canner can be used safely again.
