How to Move Scuba Gear

Scuba gear moves easily except for one item that needs care: the tank. A pressurized cylinder has handling and transport considerations, and the regulator and gauges are delicate and pricey. This guide covers preparing tanks, protecting the regulator and BCD, and packing the rest of your dive kit for a safe move.

Pro tip: Keep the regulator dust cap on at all times during the move so no moisture or debris enters the first stage.

Watch out: Never expose scuba tanks to high heat or leave them loose. A pressurized cylinder can be dangerous. For long moves or shipping, transport them with minimal pressure and secured upright.
