A serger is a precision overlock machine with exposed loopers, needles, and a sharp knife. Strip the threads and protect those moving parts, and it travels as well as any sewing machine.
Pro tip: Photograph the threading path before you remove the cones; sergers are notoriously fiddly to re-thread from scratch.
Watch out: The upper knife is sharp; pad it well so nobody is cut and the blade is not damaged during handling.
