How to Move a Digital Piano

A digital piano trades a grand piano's 800 pounds for a fraction of that weight, but the keybed, stand, and pedal unit are usually three separate pieces that need to come apart cleanly. Separating them and padding the keys is the whole job.

Pro tip: If you still have the original shipping box, it remains the best protection for a digital piano's keybed; the foam is shaped specifically to the model's weight distribution.

Watch out: Never carry a digital piano keybed on its edge for an extended distance; the internal weighted key mechanism is designed to operate flat and can be stressed or knocked out of alignment by prolonged tilting.
