How to Move a Drum Set

A full acoustic drum set is really a dozen separate pieces, wood shells, metal cymbals, and folding hardware, each with its own fragility. Bagging drums, packing cymbals vertically, and labeling hardware turns a chaotic pile into an organized load.

Pro tip: Take a photo of your cymbal setup, heights, and angles before breaking it down, since reproducing a familiar feel at the new practice space is faster with a reference.

Watch out: Never stack cymbals flat with weight resting on top of them, even briefly; the thin bronze develops stress cracks near the edge that are difficult to detect until the cymbal fails while playing.
