How to Move a Toy Chest

A toy chest is heavier and more unpredictable full than it looks empty, and its soft-close lid can catch fingers if you carry it by the wrong part. Empty it first and the rest is straightforward.

Pro tip: If the chest has a spring-loaded lid support, tape it in the open position before removing anything, since these springs are surprisingly strong and can snap shut hard.

Watch out: Never carry a toy chest by its lid; soft-close and spring-loaded lids can release under grip pressure and pinch or drop on fingers.
